Samurai Tight Sketch Completed

Completed the tight sketch phase of my Samurai Triptych. Next I need to trace it onto a bristol board, and ink it. I imagine that will be quite intensive. Below is a picture of each piece of the triptych (each will be 11 x 17", as well as a picture of the whole piece. I am also chipping away at a custom mego style figure, which I will post some pics of after he gets some pants.

Samurai Update 3

Its been a busy week with a lot going on for me. Combined with that, I also got slightly sidetracked playing Arkham City (which I bought about 3 months ago, but finally had a chance to play it and it was as awesome as I hoped). I really only play about 1 to 2 games a year. I used to play a lot more but I don't have the time anymore. Next on my list: Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Anyways, here is an update on the middle piece of the triptych I am working on. Almost there. This is going to be the most detailed piece I have ever done. The nice part is that it is getting me back into the swing of things. I need to build a lightbox soon because they are ridiculously expensive and much cheaper to make. So hopefully that goes well.

Thanks for reading.

Samurai Update 2

Another update on the Samurai Triptych. I have most of the main figures done. I am also getting quicker at drawing the armor. Tomorrow I plan to be 2/3 done with the rough. Finish the other 1/3 by Monday. Build a lightbox. Transfer to bristol board. Ink. Scan. Color. Hopefully I finish this next week, but I know coloring it will be quite a task.

The next step will be drawing some of the more violent parts including a samurai being sliced in half "hot dog" style and another "hamburger" style.

I am also working on a new custom figure. Pretty happy with the progress on that so far. Will post pics this weekend.

Samurai Update 1

Sketched out the archers. Only like 100 samurais (what is the plural of samurai?) to go.
